Teaching Environmental Sustainability in OSHC

This workshop empowers educators to embed environmental sustainability into their Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) programs with confidence and purpose. Aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the session highlights how children can develop social responsibility and respect for the environment as part of their learning journey.

Participants will explore practical strategies and creative approaches to promote sustainable practices in everyday activities, routines, and projects. The workshop also covers key concepts such as reducing waste, conserving resources, and fostering a sense of care and connection to the natural world.

Through discussion, real-life examples, and reflective practice, educators will gain the skills to inspire children to make environmentally conscious choices while supporting curiosity, problem-solving, and collaborative learning. By the end of the session, participants will feel confident in their ability to lead initiatives that nurture children’s environmental awareness and foster long-term sustainable behaviours within their OSHC programs.
