In this interview-style webcast, we take an introductory look at how oral language, speech, and communication develop for young children across the ages of 0 – 3 years.   With the expert advice of speech pathologist, Karen Nitsche, designer of the language development support app ‘Talkable’, we describe the typical language milestones for infants and toddlers up to 3 years of age and include some explanations of some red flags that might indicate a need for more support.  Strategies for building rich environments in ECEC settings for all children in the setting are described and linked to many practical examples.

Discussions include ideas and suggestions for resources to use when working to support children’s language learning.  The links to videos and websites to access, mentioned throughout the webcast, to watch for inspiration and more detailed explanations are included along with slides pages that can be printed out to assist note taking.

A certificate of completion is issued upon completion of this webcast and associated quiz.
