Trauma Informed Practice

This workshop provides educators with a deeper understanding of how trauma can impact children’s emotional responses, behaviour, and brain development. Participants will learn to look beyond behaviours to recognise the underlying experiences that may influence a child’s actions and wellbeing.

The session covers how trauma affects brain development and equips educators with strategies to identify signs of trauma in children. Emphasis is placed on understanding each child’s experiences with empathy, creating safe and predictable environments, and responding in ways that support healing and resilience.

Through discussion, case examples, and practical strategies, participants will explore trauma-informed approaches that can be integrated into everyday practice. By the end of the workshop, educators will feel more confident in applying evidence-based practices to support children’s emotional wellbeing, promote positive relationships, and foster environments where all children feel safe, understood, and empowered to thrive.
