Supervision Essentials in OSHC
This workshop explores the critical role of effective supervision in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and engagement of children within Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) environments. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of what active supervision looks like in practice, including how to anticipate risks, maintain awareness, and make responsive decisions in dynamic play and learning spaces.
Through practical examples and reflective discussion, educators will learn strategies to strengthen their supervision skills, improve team communication, and create environments that balance safety with opportunities for exploration and independence. The session also unpacks the link between supervision, duty of care, and regulatory requirements, helping educators align everyday practice with best-practice standards.
By the end of the workshop, participants will feel more confident in their ability to identify and manage potential hazards, support positive behaviour, and ensure that all children are visible, safe, and actively engaged throughout their time in care.
